I have always been fascinated by the complexity of the natural world and the human ability to uncover this complexity using the scientific method.

In my career as a biologist, I first studied how mutations arise in our DNA and discovered a novel mechanism by which repetitive DNA can change its length. Now, as a postdoc in the Petrov lab at Stanford, I study the role of novel mutations in evolution and how to predict evolutionary processes. You can see a list of my scientific publications here.

My art is influenced by my training as a scientist, and I often incorporate science, biology, and math themes into the things I create. I also love to create objects that are whimsical and happy, so most of my art pieces can be described as either nerdy or silly, and occasionaly both.
